  • Beverages, Milkshakes and Soft Drinks

    Fridges in the years prior to electricity, were essentially tight-seal containers in which a block of ice would be inserted and replaced every couple days. Thus a new job was created, the ice delivery-man. The city's ice was stored in a big cavern in the mountain of Partnitha in the north of Athens and it had to be delivered to peoples houses. The ice delivery-man would bring the ice, carve it to fit the shape of the individual fridge and then made sure that they never run out.

  • Ouzo, Tsipouro and Meze

    There are many theories in reagrds to the origin of the name "ouzo". The one that bears more truth has to do with trading and shipping between Greece and France and especially Marseille which happens to be a Greek colony. On the crates that were routed to Marseille, there would be an inscription -"uso di Massalia" -"for use in Marseille". Furthermore, in Marseille one can find a very similar beverage to ouzo which is called pastis and is also traditionally consumed with a small apetizer called "mize" -you know, like meze.

  • Burgers and Snacks

    There are a few things that you simply cannot share. Things like a juicy burger, the impatience you felt when mom prepared your favourite pasta and meatballs or the fact that you felt stuffed after a hearthy meal. The incredible self control to not overdo it ever again. There are some things that you simply can't help than let others know.

A bit of MIAMI History

Miami was the first cafe-bar to operate exclusively on the beachfront and promenade of Itea. Something about the location, along with the exotic name, made the pavilion "the place to be" since the 1970's.

It was constructed under the XENIA project which carried put many touristic developements throughout Greece and it is finest example of Greek Modernism.

Our contemporary revival as MIAMI Lounge, is aiming to pay tribute to these humanistic principals that Modernism brought forward, along with exquisite Art Deco design interjections.
