Opuntia Old Fashioned

First stop, Kalamata in the south of the Peloponnese. He didn't even get the chance to disembark the train when his attention was drawn into a field of cactuses. But they were not ordinary, they had a cherry-ish, orange fruit he'd never seen before. The colour of the prickly pear. That is the hue he encapsulated in his book's first chapter.

Opurist Martinez

Further north in Corinth, he listened to locals perform the song which describes the origin of the town's name. It talks about a noble man's daughter (Cori- = daughter) who was as pretty as a flower (-anthi =flowers).
Thus he choose a floral, sweet vermouth along with fine tsipouro and Corinthian raisins in order to combine the tastes of the canal.

Mont Parnassus Ice Tea

At the foothills of Mt. Parnassus, in the village of Tithorea, he saw the vast fields of mountain tea. Thus he made the most famous "Ice Tea Drink", the Long Island Ice Tea. He replaced a few ingredients though, with local ones.

Kurabie or Lukumi?

Next stop, Lianokladi; capital of powedered sugar sweets, like lukumi and kurabie. There was alcohol there too so after a few drinks he got confused and didn't know which is which. A few days later he wrote in his travel diary, "Why not combine them both into a drink? -name TBA".

He never got to name it though so we are left wondering, kurabie or lukumi?

Zavo's Julep

In Domokos he was supposed to spend the night so in the evening he went of a tour of the Ombriaki where he met Zavos, an owner of botany farm. Surrounded by mint, sage, teas and many more herbs, he concocted a drink as tribute to the first ever "mixed drink" - the Mint Julep.

Little Katerina

By the time he arrived in Katerini to enjoy the beach, he was already feeling ill. Most like scurvy from all the canned food he was consuming on the train.
A little farm girl called Katerina noticed him be pale so she gave him a kiwi to chew on. Almost immediately, he got his colour back. He made some kiwi cordial to have with him for the rest of the trip. We believe that he wrote in his diary: "If it wasn't for that little farm girl, I wouldn't be writting any of this down". (fun fact: Caipirinha means little farm girl in Portuguese)

Amethystos Fizz

Approaching the end of the trip, he found himselt at the blessed plains of Mt. Pangaion where they make exquisite wines in the local vineyards. It was in the middle of summer and it was getting way too hot. Thus, he needed a Gin and Tonic, only that it also came out "blessed".

Calendula

The trip came a happy, unexpected end. Jerry fell in love in Komotini and never got a chance to finish his book. A fire-orange haired lady called Margarita swept his feet away. 

And they lived happily ever after.
